CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System broke ground on the new North Charleston VA Specialty Care Clinic at Joint Base Charleston on Wednesday.

The event, held at 10:30 a.m., signaled the beginning of construction of a new facility that will provide Lowcountry veterans with pain management and mental health care, Ralph H. Johnson VAMC Public Affairs Officer Howard Capps says.

“This is more than the start of construction, it’s a symbol of our enduring promise to care for veterans where and how they need it most,” Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System Director and Chief Executive Officer Scott Isaacks said.

The clinic aims to expand access and reduce barriers for veterans to receive care.
