Top things to do in Tampa Bay this week: Easter egg hunts, Tiffany Haddish, sand sculpting

St. Pete Pier Spring Festival: This free festivity will feature family-friendly entertainment, activities, food vendors, games, rides and a 20,000-egg Easter egg hunt. The egg hunt at Spa Beach Park will consist of toy- and candy-filled eggs as well as golden eggs with unique prizes like a Dalí Museum ticket. It is free, but tickets are required at stpetespringfest.com. Each ticket entitles one child and one adult to participate in the egg hunt, and only children 12 and younger may participate. Sunday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Egg hunts begin on the hour, starting at 11:30 a.m. Spa Beach Park, 800 Second Ave. NE, St. Petersburg.

Tiffany Haddish: The actor, author and comedian will be on the Tampa Theatre’s historic stage at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, for a stop on her “Funny and Fearless Tour.” $45-$65. 711 N. Franklin St., Tampa.

Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival: The annual sand sculpting festival runs over three weekends through April 27. There are free activities for all ages, including a children’s play area, street performers, artisans, live entertainment, fireworks each Saturday night, sand sculpting classes, speed sand demonstrations and the master sand sculpting competition. It’s $14 to see the exhibit of more than a dozen sand sculptures; ages 3 and younger are free. The exhibit is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday. ‘Moments of Truth’: This national touring exhibit from the Poynter Institute is an exploration of journalism’s past, present and future. It includes a dynamic pop-up exhibit and workshop series that traces the evolution of storytelling and journalism, highlighting its vital role in defending democracy, combating false information and fostering media literacy. It is being launched April 21-30 at the St. Petersburg History Museum, and on April 24, there’s a free panel about the press — past and future — featuring local writers Craig Pittman, Tom Jones and TyLisa Johnson. American Stage in the Park: Hair: The Tony-winning musical set in the 1960s era of flower power, protests and free love, runs every Wednesday-Sunday through April 27 at Demens Landing Park. Saturday is Pride Night (wear your best rainbow attire April 19). The park is at Bayshore Drive and Second Avenue S., St. Petersburg. Day at the Farm: In honor of Earth Day, which is April 22, Sans Market is partnering with the 15th St. Farm for “Day at the Farm,” a celebration of sustainability, local agriculture and environmental stewardship. There will be guided farm tasting tours at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. as well as farm-fresh, wood-fired pizza and local kombucha. Explore eco-education booths hosted by local non-profits and sustainability advocates. There will be giveaways and prizes to encourage environmentally friendly practices.
