How Trump really feels about Putin as body language experts analyse meeting
The love story of Trump and Putin began in 2017 when they first laid eyes on each other at the G20 summit - now a body language expert has revealed what the pair truly thought of each other
Ever wondered what the Orange Manbaby really thinks about Mad Vlad? Well wonder no more. Body language experts have revealed what Donald Trump thought about the crazy Russian maniac when they first met.
It was back in 2017 when the two leaders first laid eyes on each other. It was at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. Their meeting was scheduled to last just 30 minutes but the two were inseparable and stretched to over two hours.
It was reported at the time that their discussions included "Ukraine, Syria, some bilateral and other issues".
There was also chatter around "fighting terrorism and cybersecurity".
Before their meeting, they gave brief public remarks as Trump said: "We look forward to a lot of very positive things happening for Russia, for the United States and for everybody concerned.
"And it’s an honour to be with you."
Putin said: "I'm delighted to be able to meet you personally, Mr. President. And I hope, as you have said, our meeting will yield positive results."
Body language expert Dr Lillian Glass analysed the video of the pair shaking hands and she found that the US president "looked more dominant."
She said: "Trump is completely taking control.
"And the handshake is very strong on both of their parts — this is a very strong handshake."
Glass went on to describe a "tension" in Mad Vlad's face.
She said: "He's not used to another leader taking control, he’s usually the one in control of things."
Another clip of the pair shaking hands was shared by the German government as Glass pointed out Trump grabbing Putin's arm.
The doc said: "This is a power play." She said that it was a "sign of affection" but also a deliberate illustration by Trump that he was "the one in charge".
Another body language expert, Patti Wood, spoke about another of the pair's handshakes.
She said: "Trump puts his left hand up underneath, which is the supportive cue, up underneath Putin’s arm and taps it three times.
"Now that’s going to sound odd, but three actually has a strong symbolic reference in nonverbal communication, and typically it means a true feeling or a true emotion.
"So you combine all those together: He’s supportive underneath Putin’s arm, he’s touching it three times in a gentle pat. It means, 'I support you, I really support you.'"
She also said the way that Trump was seated in the remarks before the private meeting was a slouch to him.
She said: "That’s all about manliness."
