Both sides underscored the importance of engaging with like-minded partners to maintain a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. Año and Waltz agreed to continue their dialogue and maintain close coordination between their respective teams, including discussions at the working level.

Año expressed his appreciation for the United States’ “ironclad commitment” to the Philippines, reaffirming the strength of the alliance amid rising regional tensions.

The introductory call marks a continuation of high-level engagement between the Philippines and the U.S. as both nations navigate complex security dynamics in the region.
