ALBAWABA- Millions of Israeli settlers rushed to bomb shelters after Yemen’s Houthis launched two hypersonic ballistic missiles toward Israel.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport was halted, with planes in holding patterns awaiting land clearance. Shrapnel from an interceptor missile reportedly fell in the Dhahiriya area of the southern West Bank and Mevo Horon.
The Israeli Home Front Command confirmed that air raid sirens were activated in 255 communities across the country. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit stated that the alerts were triggered by the launch of two ballistic missiles from Yemen.
Channel 12 reported that, for the first time since the resurgence of missile attacks from Yemen, a plane scheduled to land at Ben Gurion Airport was diverted to Larnaca, Cyprus.
Israeli politician Avigdor Lieberman commented on the situation, saying, “Millions of Israelis are in shelters. We have returned to the era of intermittent bombing, while the government is preoccupied with internal conflicts.”
In a statement, Ansar Allah, Houthi military spokesperson, General Yahya Saree, claimed responsibility for the attacks.
He announced that the Houthis had executed two large-scale operations: the first targeted Ben Gurion Airport and a military site south of occupied Jaffa using two ballistic missiles—one of which was a hypersonic "Palestine 2" missile.
The second operation targeted multiple enemy warships in the Red Sea, including the U.S. aircraft carrier Truman, using rockets and drones.
Earlier this week, the Houthis had warned of escalating strikes on Israel in response to its actions in Gaza and the ongoing U.S. military operations against Yemen. Declaring Ben Gurion Airport "unsafe," they urged airlines to suspend flights.
