Robert “Bob” Huizenga Jr., 72, Minot, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at Trinity Hospital.

Robert Paul Huizenga was born September 8, 1952, the son of Robert Sr. and Ardis (White) Huizenga, in Minot. He was raised and educated in the Glenburn area. He attended Tatman TWP country school through the 7th grade when he started attending Glenburn Public School, graduating in 1970.

Bob enlisted in the United States Army National Guard on December 27, 1971. He trained at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He was honorably discharged.

Bob married Sharon Deibert on September 22, 1975. They made their home in Glenburn and were blessed with two sons, Scott and Byron.

He farmed his entire adult life first with his dad and eventually took over the operation until he retired in 2022. Bob played in several popular local bands playing drums and vocals. Bob drove the school bus for Glenburn Public Schools for 28 years.

He was a member of Glenburn Senior Citizens and a former member of the Glenburn Fire Department and Glenburn Ambulance.

Bob enjoyed bowling for many years and horseshoe pitching. Following his retirement, Bob stayed active by continuing to grow crops in his garden and creating custom benches for friends and family.

His loving family includes: wife of 49 years, Sharon; children, Scott (Debbie) Huizenga, Boerne, TX, Byron (Becky) Huizenga, Kenmare, ND; grandchildren, Nicholas Huizenga, Abigail Huizenga, Mackenzie Huizenga; brother, Archie (Rebecca) Huizenga, Dallas, TX;

sisters, Sandra Foreman, Dallas, TX, Bonnie (Eugene) Iverson, Minot, ND, Barbara (Rodney) Fossen, Minot, ND; uncle, Harry Huizenga, Golden, CO; sister-in-law, Arlene (Ernie) Brewer, Bland, VA; brothers-in-law, Dale (Virginia) Deibert, Surrey, ND, Gary (Theresa) Deibert, Surrey, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert Sr. and Ardis Huizenga; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Eva Deibert; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation: Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Celebration of Life: Monday, March 31, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Sleep Inn, Minot. Casual attire, including jeans, is encouraged to honor Bob’s well-known distaste for formality.

Interment: Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11a.m. at ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
