Organizers of the Thunder Over the Waves Airshow are revealing more details about the inaugural event.
The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWTIDA) and David Schultz Airshows announced March 21 the lineup for the Sept. 5 (practice day) and Sept. 6 (main event) on the beaches of the Wildwoods.
The event came together following the previously announced “strategic pause” of the Atlantic City Airshow. However, as NJBIZ reported, Atlantic City’s annual event is now back on, under a reimagined theme.
GWTIDA projects the airshow will draw over 400,000 spectators – along with the economic impact that many people bring to the area. Organizers also note the Wildwoods’ experience hosting large-scale outdoor events, such as the Barefoot Country Music Festival.
“The Wildwoods are home to many family-friendly events year-round – and we’re proud to add a longtime South Jersey tradition to our calendar of events,” said GWTIDA Executive Director Louis Belasco.
“Hosting the airshow in the Wildwoods continues a shore tradition that has captivated families with dazzling entertainment,” said David Schultz Airshows President David Schultz. “We are thrilled that the Wildwoods have selected us to put on a first-class airshow that will be both exciting and entertaining for families.”
GWTIDA says it is in discussions to host an airshow in 2026, as well, with plans to make the event an annual one for the region.
