PAULDING COUNTY, Ohio (WPTA) - Leaders with the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) say a 78-year-old Angola man is in custody after he allegedly led officers on a pursuit across state lines early Monday morning.

OSHP officers say they were called by Indiana police around 2:12 a.m. on Monday, April 29, regarding a police pursuit that started in Angola and was headed into Williams County, Ohio.

The department says troopers were able to use tire deflation devices on the suspect’s car in Williams County, but he continued into Defiance County. Police say the driver was finally stopped in Paulding County and was identified as Nelson Eddy, 78, of Angola.

Police say Eddy was then taken into custody and appeared to be having a medical emergency, so he was taken to an area hospital.

The case remains under investigation at this time.
