INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUSPECT. WELL, THIS WEEK, A GROUP OF VETERANS ARE WALKING ACROSS MISSOURI IN KANSAS, RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT PTSD. KMBC NINES BRIAN JOHNSON MET UP WITH THEM TODAY TO HEAR ABOUT THEIR EFFORTS TO HELP AMERICA’S HEROES. THE HEAT DOES NOT DETER THESE VETERANS FROM SUPPORTING THEIR CAUSE. THEY WALK, HIKE AND MARCH. EVERY STEP HAS DEEP MEANING. NATALIE VINES LOST A LOT OF SOLDIERS OVERSEAS, BUT HERE WAS SEMPER FI FUND, AMERICA’S FUND TO PICK UP THE PIECES AND GRAB ME AND PUT ARMS AROUND ME AND GIVE ME THAT FAMILY. AND TODAY I’M HERE BECAUSE OF THEM. SHE GETS EMOTIONAL TALKING ABOUT HER PTSD AND HOW THE NONPROFIT SAVED HER LIFE. THAT’S THE BIGGEST THING I HAVE TO SAY. THEY ARE JUST THE BIGGEST FAMILY AND I’M THANKFUL TO HAVE THEM PART AND PART OF MY LIFE. EACH OF THESE TEAM MEMBERS HAS EXPERIENCED PTSD. SIX VETERANS HIKE MORE THAN 100 MILES OVER FIVE DAYS. THERE’S NO AMOUNT OF THERAPY THAT CAN TAKE PLACE IN THAT SHORT OF A TIME THAT HAS THAT BIG OF AN IMPACT. SEMPER FI AND AMERICA’S FUND PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR PTSD, CRITICALLY WOUNDED OR INJURED, SERVICE MEMBERS. WHAT THEY DO FOR VETERANS IS IS BAR NONE. ONE OF THE BEST I’VE EVER SEEN OR BEEN PART OF THE GROUP LEFT WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE. MONDAY, THEY’LL FINISH FRIDAY AT FORT LEAVENWORTH. YOU WANT TO COME BY AND DRIVE BY AND HONK YOUR HORN AND SAY HI OR YOU WANT TO COME WALK WITH US? IF PEOPLE WANT TO COME WALK A COUPLE OF MILES WITH US, BY ALL MEANS, COME OUT AND JOIN US. BRIAN JOHNSON, KMBC NINE NEWS. THE GROUP CONTINUES 23 MORE MILES TOMORROW THROUGH PLEASANT HILL TO SUPPORT THEIR EFFORT. YOU CAN GO TO OUR WEBSITE, KMBC. CLICK ON THE LINK TO DONATE. WE ALS
