Halloween Community Treat Night at New Ulm American Legion

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Sons of the American Legion will hold their annual Halloween Community Treat Night at the American Legion Club rooms at 13 S. Minnesota St. in New Ulm, Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m.

This year’s event will be simplified due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be a one-way walk through event. Enter through the south door entrance on Minnesota Street and exit through the north door. Children will receive a free candy bag with an assortment of candy, a coloring book and crayon. No door prizes or juice. Candy bags will be individually wrapped, and will be set up to ‘grab and go.’

The Sons of American Legion will have attendants both inside and outside, making sure all have COVID appropriate masks before entering. (Halloween masks are not considered a face covering.) Social distancing will be enforced.

The event is for kids age 15 and under, with a special emphasis on children 11 and under. Organizers note that those who are not feeling well, or are sick, should not attend this event due to COVID safety concerns.

Come in costumes, and make the New Ulm Legion a part of your safe Halloween night route. There will also be a pork chop fry at the Legion that night, and attendants will keep Halloween visitors and pork chop attendees separated upon entrance.

The event is sponsored by the New Ulm Sons of the American Legion, and co-sponsored by the American Legion-Post 132, and the Legion Auxiliary, New Ulm Legion Riders, and the Optimist Club of New Ulm. It has been a annual event since the early 1970s.
