PM appeals to diplomats to lift travel advise on Sri Lanka


(MENAFN- Leisure Plus) />Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today urged the diplomatic community based in Sri Lanka to take steps to lift the travel advisories imposed on Sri Lanka.


Wickremesinghe made the appeal while briefing diplomats on the security situation in the country following the Easter Sunday attacks.


The Prime Minister, State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardena, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General SHS Kottegoda and others, including the Police, also attended the briefing.


The diplomats were briefed on the investigations over the Easter Sunday attacks and steps taken to strengthen security in the country.


The diplomats were also told that any attempt to create disharmony between communities will not be tolerated.


The Prime Minister appealed to the diplomats to lift the travel advisories imposed on Sri Lanka by their respective Governments since daily life was now returning to normalcy in Sri Lanka.


Diplomats from the US, China, UK and Germany were among the several foreign envoys who attended the briefing. (Colombo Gazette)
