Royal Air Force Base Mildenhall, used by the U.S. Air Force, was briefly placed on lockdown Monday after a security incident, reports Sky News.

Shots were reportedly fired by U.S. personnel, but no one was seriously injured. One man, who was detained by police, suffered “cuts and bruises.”

The man apparently tried to get on base by driving a vehicle into the gate. He was quickly arrested, but his motives remain unknown.

“We are aware of incident at the entry point of RAF Mildenhall, Suffolk police have primacy; all questions should be referred to them,” a Ministry of Defense spokesperson told the network.

The incident reportedly started at the base’s main gate.

Police initially described the event as “a significant incident.”
