MBABANE – Despite the fact that most people are not sure if the Miss Swaziland pageant will be held this year, ENCAC says it’s on.
ENCAC stands for the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture.

The council appointed Pageant SD to overlook the running of the Miss Swaziland contest. The committee headed by director Catrien Potgieter was tasked by ENCAC to make sure that all local pageants met international standards.
For the past two weeks, the Entertainment Desk has been trying to get hold of Potgieter, to confirm the dates for the national pageant.
At first Pageant SD had indicated that the pageant would be held in April this year, then later  postponed the event  citing certain national events.
Since then there has not been any confirmed date of the national pageant.

When Stanley Dlamini, ENCAC Chief Executive Officer (CEO), was alerted of this, he assured the nation that the pageant was still on. He could not give exact dates as well but only confirmed that it would be before the end of next month.
“We had a briefing from the pageant directors which is Pageant SD, and during this briefing we were informed that the Miss Swaziland finals for this year will be held next month,” he said.

He said the committee informed them that they were doing all possible means to make sure that the pageant would be the best.
“We were also informed that they have already selected the top 12 finalists something which we saw as great progress. We just hope they will put up a great event that will be of the calibre deserving of a national pageant like Miss Swaziland,” Dlamini said.
He said Pageant SD would soon inform the nation of the prizes of the winners.
“Actually such pageants are handled by Pageant SD. The issue of prizes involves them directly. I just hope they will soon inform us about the prize breakdown,” he said.
