ALTUS, Okla. – Authorities said they are investigating after an airman has been found dead at the Altus Air Force Base.

The airman, assigned to the 97th Air Mobility Wing, was reportedly found around 3 a.m. on Sunday in a home at the base in southwest Oklahoma.

Altus Air Force Base Security Forces as well as the Altus Police Department responded to the home early Sunday morning, and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations is leading the ongoing investigation.

The airman’s identity is currently being withheld, according to authorities.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the airman’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the base said in a news release.

No other information has been released at this time.
