The 24-year-old, from Northern Ireland, confirmed her pregnancy last month by posting an image of her stomach on Instagram.

McCollum shot to notoriety in 2013 when she and her friend Melissa Reid were arrested in Lima for smuggling drugs and were dubbed the Peru Two by the Press.

She has since become something of a public figure, attending events and escaping the chilly British weather on holiday.

Her day out to the beach comes as she posted a selfie on Instagram saying that 'Vitamin Sea is always the answer.'

McCollum shared the snap with her 15,000 followers on Instagram, where she has posted several images documenting her pregnancy.

It is not yet known who the father is but a mystery man appeared in the Instagram post announcing the pregnancy last month.

Wearing black and white Calvin Klein underwear, McCollum was pictured nestling between the legs of an unseen man, who was resting one hand on her bump.

Captioning the post, Michaella wrote: 'Wow had some crazy dreams... guess that's what happens when your dreaming for more than one.'

Speaking to the MailOnline they said: 'Michaella is pleased to announce her pregnancy, her journey since being back home has been life changing experience.

'Michaella is looking forward to her journey into motherhood. Couple this with the excitement of her book release and 2018 is set to be an amazing year for Michaella.'

Last month McCollum was spotted shopping for baby clothes and was also seen leaving ultrasound specialist, babybond in Belfast.

McCollum, from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, was photographed leaving the clinic alongside a male companion whom sources have confirmed to be Patrick Mone.

Mone, who is reported to own a hair salon Monet Hair in Belfast, has been spotted with McCollum on several occasions recently - though the pair are not thought to be romantically connected.

The former model has been spotted on several shopping trips since her agent confirmed that she is currently working on a documentary about life in prison.

She is also due to publish her first book, which is set to hit shelves this summer.

It was previously reported that she had been offered a £250,000 deal for the book, detailing her criminal exploits and time behind bars in Lima.

Since returning to the UK, Michaella's lifestyle has been a stark contrast to former accomplice Melissa Reid, who has landed a charity job at Citizens Advice.

Melissa applied for a job at the charity after she was released from the South American jail last June.

WHO ARE THE PERU TWO?

Melissa Reid and Michaella McCollum Connolly were arrested in August 2013 for attempting to smuggle £1.5million (€1.75 million) worth of cocaine out of Peru.

In June 2013, McCollum had travelled to Balearic island Ibiza to work as a dancer in a bar for that summer.

On July 31, Reid flew to South America while McCollum followed a day later.

On August 6, McCollum was reported missing to the Police Service of Northern Ireland by her family, the same day as her arrest.

The duo were seized at Lima airport with 11kg of the Class A drug in their suitcases as they tried to check-in for a flight to Spain.

At the time of their arrest the women's families had believed that they were in Ibiza doing bar work.

Following their arrest on August 6, the pair claimed they had been kidnapped by an armed gang and flown to Peru.

The women, who did not know each other beforehand, claim they were unwittingly introduced by friends to drugs runners, who threatened their families if they did not agree to smuggle cocaine.

Their story was described as ‘illogical’ and they later pleaded guilty to drug trafficking, but claimed they were doing so to secure a more lenient sentence.

During their sentencing in December 2013 the women learned they had escaped the most severe 15-year penalty in return for pleading guilty and passing on information about the gang that supplied the drugs.

On December 17 2013 Reid and McCollum were sentenced to six years and eight months in jail at the notorious Santa Monica prison in Chorrillo.

While their original sentence was due to last until April 2020 both women served a reduced sentence.

McCollum was released on parole in March 2015 after serving less than half of her sentence but was required to stay in Peru until February 2016.

Reid returned to the UK in June 2016 after serving just under half of her six-year prison sentence.
