Chelsea's loan army! Blues have already sent out 31 players this summer everywhere from Yeovil to Tenerife... and there's still two weeks until the window closes

As has become an annual custom, Chelsea have sent out a small army of youth-team and fringe first-team players out on loan for the season ahead.

No fewer than 31 surplus players have already passed out of the Stamford Bridge revolving door to destinations as diverse as Yeovil Town and Lleida Esportiu in order to gain experience.

Chelsea haven't quite matched last season's loan tally of 33 players, but there are still two weeks to go until the loan window closes, so you wouldn't put it past them.

Here's Sportsmail's guide to each of the players Chelsea have sent out on loan for the season ahead.

Michy Batshuayi (loaned to Valencia) 

Unloved Belgian striker gets himself some more time out on loan, with Valencia this time, having scored nine goals in 14 matches at Borussia Dortmund in the second half of last season before injury. Will have to go some in La Liga to gain the appreciation of any Chelsea manager it would seem. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea are left short in attack.

Tiemoue Bakayoko (AC Milan) 

Unimpressive France midfielder, who somehow played 43 games for Chelsea last season, makes way for incoming loanee Mateo Kovacic by joining Italy's fallen giants AC Milan. They have the option to make the deal permanent for just under £30million next summer if he manages to find some form. Chelsea only signed him last summer - for a princely £40m - and he's already on the scrapheap.

Kurt Zouma (Everton) 

Having suffered Premier League relegation with Stoke City last season, the French defender should have a more joyous campaign with Everton. It's been a strange fall from grace for Zouma, who was favoured by Jose Mourinho but quickly fell out of favour under Antonio Conte and his reputation has taken a hefty dent.

Lewis Baker (Leeds United)

Once one of the brightest prospects in the Chelsea academy, the ball-playing midfielder became bogged down in a succession of loan moves at Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons, Vitesse and Middlesbrough. At least this latest one at Leeds should allow him a chance to impress in Marcelo Bielsa's Elland Road revolution.

Fikayo Tomori (Derby County) 

The defender already has an impressive CV at youth level as he won the Under-20 World Cup with England last year. After time at Brighton and Hull City, Tomori is linking up with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard at Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County. Unfortunately his debut was a 4-1 thrashing by Leeds United, so things can only get better.

Kenedy (Newcastle United) 

Cheapskates Newcastle were pleased to get Brazilian winger Kenedy for another season after he impressed on loan for them last term. There were high hopes for the 22-year-old when he signed for Chelsea but those ill-advised offensive remarks during the 2017 pre-season tour of China may have ended his Stamford Bridge career.

Mason Mount (Derby County) 

Box-to-box midfielder with great passing range and an eye for goal... remind you of anyone? Derby boss Frank Lampard maybe sees shades of himself in 19-year-old Mount, one of the gems of the Chelsea academy. Had a very positive loan spell at partner club Vitesse last season and scored on his Derby debut at Reading.

Trevoh Chalobah (Ipswich Town) 

The 19-year-old defender, younger brother of Nathaniel, had impressed for a long time in Chelsea's academy and has now been afforded the chance to toughen up in Championship football with Ipswich. Conte named him on the bench for Chelsea's FA Cup final win over Manchester United despite the fact he'd never played a professional game.

Ola Aina (Torino) 

The right back is one of the latest to go out on loan, having joined Serie A side Torino on Tuesday. The 21-year-old, who played six first-team games for Chelsea under Conte in 2016-17, was pretty much an ever-present on loan at Championship club Hull City last season. Named in Nigeria's preliminary World Cup squad as a result, but didn't make the final cut.

Jake Clarke-Salter (Vitesse)

Another highly-regarded academy talent and another Under-20 World Cup champion with England, Clarke-Salter has followed the well-trodden path from Stamford Bridge to the Eredivisie with Vitesse. This is his third loan spell following time with Bristol Rovers and Sunderland that both yielded only a handful of appearances.

Jay Dasilva (Bristol City)

A third loan spell for the dynamic defender, who has won a host of trophies at youth level over recent seasons. Did really well in two loan spells with Charlton Athletic in 2017-18 and was voted the League One club's Fans' Player of the Year. Now making the step up to the Championship with Bristol City.

Charlie Colkett (Shrewsbury Town) 

It seems unlikely that Colkett, a hard-grafting midfielder who shone in the Chelsea youth sides a few years back, will make his Stamford Bridge breakthrough but he remains on the loan cycle. Having played for Bristol Rovers, Swindon Town and Vitesse, he is now in League One with Shrewsbury Town.

Nathan (Atletico Mineiro) 

It was in July 2015 that the Brazilian playmaker signed for Chelsea from Atletico Paranaense. Since then, the 22-year-old hasn't been anywhere near a Chelsea appearance, instead enjoying a European tour with Vitesse, Amiens and Belenenses. Now that he's back in his homeland with Atletico Mineiro, surely it's a matter of time before Chelsea cut their losses.

Jacob Maddox (Cheltenham Town) 

A 19-year-old England youth-international midfielder who has been sent to League Two Cheltenham for his finishing school. Looks likely to make plenty of appearances for them in the season ahead.

Dujon Sterling (Coventry City) 

The 18-year-old defender has been a mainstay of Chelsea's FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League triumphs in recent seasons and also helped England win last year's Under-19 European Championship. Has been sent out on his first loan spell this season to lend League One returnees Coventry a helping hand.

Nathan Baxter (Yeovil Town) 

The 19-year-old goalkeeper has more experience than most his age of the English lower leagues after loans at Isthmian League Met Police and National League clubs Solihull Moors and Woking. Now has a crack at the Football League with Yeovil Town.

Kenneth Omeruo (Leganes) 

There was plenty of interest in 24-year-old Nigeria international defender Omeruo but Spanish club Leganes saw off competition from various Turkish outfits and he became the 31st Chelsea player sent out on loan on Tuesday. This is his fifth loan spell from Chelsea after time at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasimpasa (twice) and Alanyaspor. Has never played for Chelsea but has 40 Nigeria caps.

Kyle Scott (Telstar) 

A first spell away from Chelsea for the 20-year-old American midfielder, who was reportedly close to handing in a transfer request two years ago after growing frustrated at a lack of progress. Presumably a sole FA Cup outing against Hull City last season hasn't appeased him too much, but he did agree to join Dutch side Telstar for the season.

Jamal Blackman (Leeds United) 

One of three goalkeepers Chelsea currently have out on loan, 24-year-old Blackman has racked up a century of appearances away from Stamford Bridge across five different spells. He has played for Middlesbrough, Ostersunds, Wycombe Wanderers and Sheffield United, and is now set for an entertaining season at Leeds.

Reece James (Wigan Athletic) 

The teenage defender made great waves in the Chelsea academy, captaining the side to a record-equalling fifth consecutive FA Youth Cup win last season, which led him being named the club's Academy Player of the Year. Has also won an Under-19 European Championship and the Toulon Tournament with England. Will help Wigan's bid to remain in the Championship.

Danilo Pantic (Partizan Belgrade) 

Yet another player who was signed by Chelsea a few years ago and yet hasn't had a sniff of first-team action. The Serbian midfielder, 21, spent time with Vitesse and Excelsior in Holland before finally getting some meaningful game time with Partizan, his original club, last season. Having renewed the loan, he might as well stay there.

Mario Pasalic (Atalanta) 

Upon signing for Chelsea from Hajduk Split in 2014, Croatia international midfielder Pasalic said: 'I am very happy because I am now a Chelsea player.' He still is, but in name only after zero competitive first-team appearances and a string of continental loan spells with Elche, Monaco, Milan, Spartak Moscow and now Atalanta. He did appear in Chelsea blue against Perth Glory in pre-season before his latest loan move.

Eduardo Carvalho (Vitesse) 

While most on this list are 25 or under, veteran Portuguese keeper Eduardo is at the opposite end of the spectrum. At 35, he is part of this season's Chelsea to Vitesse cohort, having already joined the Dutch side long before the Blues brought in Kepa as their new No 1.

Todd Kane (Hull City) 

The Tigers took a couple of Chelsea loanees last season in Aina and Tomori with great success and they'll hope for similar with 24-year-old right back Kane, whose career is one long chain of borrowing. Kane has played for Preston, Blackburn, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, NEC Nijmegen, Groningen, Oxford United and now Hull, yet still remains on Chelsea's books.

Matt Miazga (Nantes) 

The centre half must have been delighted when Chelsea paid New York Red Bulls £3.5m for his services back in 2016 but he was substituted in his second outing at Swansea and hasn't been seen since. After a two-year loan spell at Vitesse, he has now arrived at French Ligue 1 club Nantes.

Baba Rahman (Schalke) 

The Blues must have thought highly of the Ghana international left back when they paid Augsburg £14m for him back in 2015 and, unlike many here, Rahman did spend a season with the first team. But he failed to impress and was sent out on loan to Schalke, where he has struggled for appearances. He is contracted to remain there until the end of the season.

Victorien Angban (Metz) 

Joined Chelsea in 2012 from Stade d'Abidjan in his native Ivory Coast but took three years to get a work permit and has since been loaned to Belgian clubs Sint-Truiden and Waasland-Beveren, Spanish side Granada and now French outfit Metz. Angban must wonder whether the paperwork ever came through or not.

Kasey Palmer (Blackburn Rovers) 

Another star of Chelsea's youth teams in recent seasons, Palmer almost made an appearance under Guus Hiddink's temporary management but didn't get on the field. Since then the 21-year-old midfielder has turned out for Huddersfield Town and Derby County and is now back for another crack at the Championship with newly-promoted Blackburn.

Josimar Quintero (Lleida Esportiu) 

Arguably the most exotic-sounding loan destination is Quintero's club Lleida Esportiu, who play in the Spanish third tier. The Ecuadorian midfielder, 21, was originally at Barcelona's La Masia academy before coming to Chelsea in 2014. Various visa issues have delayed his actual arrival and he has been loaned to Rostov and Real Betis in the interim.

Ruben Sammut (Falkirk)

It's a homecoming for the Scotland youth international midfielder Sammut, 20, as he joins Championship side Falkirk. Sammut played a role in Chelsea's back-to-back FA Youth Cup wins in 2014, 2015 and 2016, plus their UEFA Youth League successes in 2015 and 2016.

Joao Rodriguez (Tenerife) 

Scooping the award for the most loan spells in a such a young career is 22-year-old Colombian forward Joao, who is about to embark on his 10th loan, with Spanish club Tenerife. Also on his CV since joining Chelsea in 2013 are Deportes Quindio, Uniautonoma, Bastia, Bastia II, Vitoria, Sint-Truiden, Santa Fe, Cortulua and Tampico Madero.
