Minnesota American Legion going on 'Legacy Run' ride across the state

MOORHEAD — A motorcycle group is riding to raise money for kids, and they made a stop in Moorhead Friday, Aug. 9.

The American Legion riders in Minnesota are going for a "Legacy Run" all the way across the state. With each stop, they collect donations for the Legacy Scholarship Fund. The fund helps kids whose parents died in military action after 9/11.

The group collected over $800 from Moorhead's legion, which put them at over $8,000 for all of Friday. After almost 10 years of riding together, the group hit the $1 million mark this year.

"Minnesota did their part, and they're not done doing their part, and it's here and all the way across the state, it's just totally phenomenal," said Steve "Sully" Sullivan, the chair for Minnesota's Legacy Run.

The group will end its journey in Osseo, Minn., on Sunday, Aug. 11.
