The first meeting of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Mountain Post 781, of Mountain Top, of the 2018-2018 year will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Legion Home, 1600 Church Road, Mountain Top. Anyone interested is asked to contact Katie Chado at [email protected]. The auxiliary will host a fall craft/artisian fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Legion grounds. The fair will coincide with the Sons of the American Legion chicken and waffles dinner and include fried chicken and waffles, green beans and dessert. Cost is $8 and dinners will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or until sold out).

Donations will also be accepted for the soldiers Christmas packages being sent overseas. A tub will be available for donations of non-perishable items. Donors are asked to check expiration dates as packages will not be sent until the first week in December. Some suggestions are: packaged snacks, 5-hour energy drinks, jerky, playing cards, puzzles books, any kind of games, wrapped candy of any kind, powered sweetened juice drinks, funny DVDs, flip top cans such as fruit and sardines, prepared tuna in pouches (no cans). Monetary donations are always welcome as they help to defray the cost of sending the packages. for additional information, contact Judy Buff at 570-678-7433.
