BYU ROC section trolls Utah with #safetyfirst campaign

The BYU student section twitter page posted a contest to see who could come up with the best #safetyfirst tweet in light of the upcoming BYU vs. Utah basketball game.

The #safetyfirst hashtag is playing off of comments made by Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak after the rivalry basketball game between the two teams in 2015. Krystkowiak decided to cancel the 2016 game between BYU and Utah and cited safety of the players as his reasoning.

“The level of emotions has escalated to the point where there is the potential for serious injury,” Krystkowiak said following the game in 2015.

BYU fans are having a field day with the challenge from the ROC section twitter page.

Needless to say, BYU fans are excited to host the Utes this year. The game will be played at the Marriott Center on Saturday, Dec. 16, beginning at 9 p.m. MST. It will be broadcast on ESPN2.

BYU hasn’t defeated Utah since 2012 and the all-time series sits at 129-128 BYU.

Both teams will enter Saturday’s matchup with just two losses after each squad won its Beehive Classic game in Salt Lake City last weekend.
